Unity In Community Supporting Chalkwell Lifeguards
Saturday 22nd October was a busy day for the Unity In Community team supporting Chalkwell Lifeguards. Unity Chairwomen and Atlantic Pacific Group Director Chrissy Nichols presented a motorised ‘Red Rescue’ SUP Board to Chalkwell Lifeguards.
The board comes with an electric motor and is part of a specialist rescue range from ‘The Red Paddle Co’, who are recognised for delivering the safest, most durable and portable rescue boards worldwide.
Also in attendance were Ashley Nichols (Chairman of Atlantic Pacific Group), Anna Firth (MP Southend West), Stephen Habermel (Deputy Mayor of Southend) and Nigel Folkard (Councillor for Chalkwell Ward), along with members of Chalkwell Lifeguards.

Chalkwell Lifeguards are a volunteer beach rescue organisation founded in 1978 to help keep the public safe and save lives on the beaches of Southend-on-Sea. Unity and Atlantic Pacific Group have been supporting them since 2014.
The organisation were commemorating the life of Sir David Amess MP, a well known and much-loved supporter of their organisation, who sadly lost his life in a knife attack last October 2021. Sir David was a British politician who had served the Southend-West constituency from 1997.
Training is another key feature of the society, and during the day members of the Atlantic Pacific team passed the Royal Life Saving Society course run by Chalkwell Lifeguards on Life Support.
However, the day’s special visitor was Unity In Community’s Tuk Tuk. As ever, Little Red was very popular with the passing public as she continued to promote the lifeguard society and certainly made a new special friend in Anna Firth MP.
