London Freight Club Raises Funds For Breast Cancer
Christine Nichols was delighted to present a cheque for £1725.00 to Esther Taylor, CEO of Lady McAdden Cancer Trust, which was raised during a London Freight Club (LFC) luncheon in May.
Christine is the first ever Lady Chairman of the LFC and as a trustee of Lady McAdden, this has become her chosen charity of the year.
The Trust was named in honour of Lady Dorothy McAdden, wife of Sir Stephen McAdden (former MP for Southend East), and opened the UK’s first breast screening unit at Southend Hospital in 1976.
Today, the NHS provides a National Breast Screening Service, so Lady McAdden has evolved its services to support the early detection of breast cancer, through advice, education and awareness, and assisting with breast pain and breast health.
£1725 was also raised at the event for the Orchid Prostate Cancer Appeal.
