Unity Sponsored Golfer Competes In English Championship
Through Atlantic Pacific Group, Unity In Community proudly sponsor 22 year old British amateur golfer Max Reynolds, who competed in the English Amateur Championship held at both Royal Liverpool and Wallasey golf clubs last weekend.
204 men entered the competition for the first two rounds of strokeplay, with the best scoring 64 due to qualify and progress to the matchplay stage.
In this case, the strokeplay format is where all competitors play two rounds of golf and at the end of them the best (lowest) total score counts. Meanwhile, matchplay is where individuals compete in single matches between two players in a knockout format – if you win your match you proceed to the next round, if you lose your match your competition ends.
Max got off to a great start in the first round on the Royal Liverpool course. A first round score of 66, which was six shots under par, saw him sitting in seventh place and well positioned to qualify for the matchplay format.
The second round, which he played on the Wallasey course, was another great day for Max. Scoring a 67, he finished with an eleven under par aggregate score and in tied third place, meaning that he had successfully made the cut.
Unfortunately for Max, he was unable to progress past the first matchplay round. A very hard fought and tense match ended with both players evenly matched after eighteen holes, with Max finally defeated on the play off hole.
Nonetheless, Max had a fantastic tournament and even though he was competing with the best amateur golfers in the country, he had placed himself right near the very top of the leaderboard after two rounds.
Atlantic Pacific Group is very proud to be sponsoring Max and were especially proud of his achievements last weekend. Well done Max!
