Unity in Community Supports Cyclocruze 2025 for a Worthy Cause
Unity in Community’s group partners, Atlantic Pacific and Killick Martin, recently sponsored Paul Uglow as he participated in Cyclocruze 2025, an event that took place on the weekend of July 5th/6th.
Paul, who works for Killick Martin, led a group of passionate cyclists in raising funds for the Samaritans by cycling around the Isle of Wight.
Cyclocruze, which has been held annually for 41 years, began in 1984 when a group of friends decided to take their cycling adventures to the next level. Originally, they cycled around the New Forest, but in time, they expanded the event to a two-day journey around the Isle of Wight. The route took riders from Hythe to Cowes, Yarmouth, Freshwater, Ventnor, Sandown, and St Helens before heading to Ryde and back to Cowes.
In addition to the physical challenge, Cyclocruze riders have always supported charities, selecting new causes each year. Despite some logistical setbacks, including a damaged ferry pier in Hythe, the ride went ahead, albeit with fewer participants.
The event, held on a damp and chilly morning, kicked off with a safety briefing and a photo at the pier before cyclists set off on their journey. Though there were fewer riders due to the ferry issue, the dedication and community spirit were evident, and the fundraising efforts were a great success.
