Unity In Community Chair Meets Sir Geoff Hurst

Unity In Community chair – Christine Nichols – and the Atlantic Pacific team were fortunate enough to meet with World Cup hat trick hero – Sir Geoff Hurst MBE – at a London Freight Club event on Friday 11th November.

Sir Geoff is perhaps the most remembered of the 1966 England World Cup winning team after scoring three goals in the final, and was at the event to raise awareness of World Diabetes Day on 14th November.

Atlantic Pacific Group member Port Express were one of the sponsors of the luncheon, which raised significant funds for this worthy cause. Around one in ten people are affected by diabetes and many more remain undetected.

Sir Geoff’s story has just been released as a documentary film on Sky Television, which includes previously unknown details of his life, along with plenty of highs and lows.
